The Lady Tigers end the Regular Season 9-9-2

Just as a little refresher before I begin. The Carthage Tigers and The Logan-Rogersville Wildcats have played two games this season. In both game neither team scored during regulation or in overtime periods. Logan-Rogersville won the first game in a penalty kick shoot-out. The second game ended in a tie because it was in pool play during the Branson Tournament.
Thursday May 13th The Lady Tigers and Lady Wildcats took the field again and battled for 100 minutes again without being able to score. The game saw both teams have chances and both teams move the ball well. The Lady Tigers really started to click as a group. They had several chances and set up some good runs on the goal, but were unable to get any shots on frame or by the keeper. The Lady Wildcats really began to apply pressure toward the end of the game with #32 hitting the far post. Phylicia Lewis stepped up at the end of the game and made an outstanding save on a cross that came into her box. This save was a turning point and the Lady Tigers then began to play controlled soccer and began moving the ball back up the field toward the Lady Wildcats goal. Most of the two overtimes were played in the midfield with both teams getting runs up the field, but neither was able to get anything on goal. After 280 minutes of soccer neither squad was able to score. In the PK shoot-out the Lady Tigers stepped it up and put every shot on frame. The Lady Wildcat Goalie made two good saves. Phylica Lewis was able to get her hand on almost every PK shot. She made one save and watched as one shot went over the top and the final shot hit the cross bar. The Lady Tigers won the game 4-3 in a PK Shoot-out.

The Girls ended their Regular season with a 9-9-2 record

May 6th Senior Night!

Thursday was Senior Night and our Fabulous Five Seniors started the game and did a great job. Deandra Sexton started on the outside right and she did a great job of moving the ball. She worked well with the other girls and gave a great pass that resulted in an early scoring opportunity for the Lady Tigers. Next we had Sarah Cooper who was playing outside left for the Lady Tigers and she did a very good working the ball down the sideline and helping the Lady Tigers on offense and defense. Sarah had a great shot on goal that missed to the near post by about 5 inches. Ashley Heidlage did a very good job of playing in the defense and keeping the Lady Warriors from getting off too many shots. Ashley works hard every game and has developed in to a good defender. Evelyn Naverette started in the mid-field and really helped to move the ball from the defense to the offense. She has kept our mid-field in good shape this year. Evelyn also set up at least four scoring opportunities and did a lot of other great things. Ashley Shannon played up top and did a great job of getting into position to get the ball and put a shot on goal. She was rewarded for her hard work by scoring all three goals. This was the First Hat-Trick in our short history at the Varsity level. Ashley worked very hard and really stepped up her play in this game.
Our entire team did a great job of moving the ball and working hard. I am proud of everyone and hope we can take this hard work and good ball movement into the District Tournament and make more history.
I would also like to send out a huge thank you to our parents for the outstanding food they fed us after the game. It is great to have that type of parent support for our team.

The Lady Tigers travelled to Springfield to take on the Central Lady Bulldogs. The first 80 minutes of the game the Lady Tigers had trouble finishing our opportunities. The Lady Tigers did have two shots in the first half that hit the post and bounced out. The Lady Tigers pushed hard against a driving wind and moved the ball well, but could not find the net. In the second half the Lady Tigers put pressure on the Lady Bulldogs with the wind at their backs, but could not put anything away. The game went to overtime and in the first minutes of the first overtime the Lady Tigers ended the game with good pressure and a great goal by Andrea Westoff.
