Carthage Moves to 3-0

It was another typical Carthage/Neosho game. Neosho played Carthage tough and they fought hard all night. I wouldn’t expect anything less from them. Final score ended 3-0.

In the first half, Carthage again came out flat. Like the Carl Junction game, even though they weren’t playing well to start, they scored in the first 5 minutes. Franklin Reyes got control of the ball about 30 yards from the Neosho goal and he hit a shot that deflected off of  a Neosho defender and redirected into the goal. The play in the first half stayed in the middle 1/3 of the field for most of the time. Carthage’s attack kept fading out in the final 1/3 of the field. They generated some chances, but not very many of them were that dangerous. Just before half time Cesar Aguirre scored to make the score 2-0.

In the second half, Carthage looked a little bit better. There passing picked up a bit and they started to vary their attack a little. They generated several good chances on goal, but they couldn’t put it in the net. The Neosho keeper came up with some outstanding saves. He did a great job of making things difficult on the Carthage offense. With one minute left in the game, Aguirre made a great run and he received a through ball from Joe Curti that he put in the back of the net for his second goal of the night. The final shot count was registered at Carthage 26 and Neosho 4.

In JV action, Carthage won 3-0.
